A cyberpunk themed music video featuring the very talented "Gypsy", the time from pitch to final delivery was just over a month. I love this project because it combined my skills as a director, VFX artist and production designer.
This was my thesis film from Chapman University. Currently being re-worked for festival runs, the main challenge for this project was creating a futuristic dystopia from scratch. The scale of the production and the multiple characters made it a fun challenge to successfully manage.
A story about a little girl, divorce, and the blood of Christ. The biggest concern for me on this was working with a child actor and ensuring that not only were we in compliance with labor laws but that we would make our day! In the end, lots of planning and communication led to a smooth production.
What began as an exercise in expanding a one page scene turned into a more fleshed out film with this project. We had a lot of fun creating the blocking for the rooftop, expressing the escalating tension spinning out of control with the camera movement.
It was inevitable I make a fan film. The concept was simple--get as many friends as possible and shoot them in interesting action sequences and find the story in the edit. We had a loose script that allowed for us to play around. It was a passion project, where I directed, edited and did VFX.
An explorer desperately tries to save the memories of his wife in this film. Every day brought a new obstacle thanks to Mother Nature. We fought wind, rain and harsh sun. We also brought a modular set on location for our crashed ship. Instead of giving in to these roadblocks we rolled with the punches.
A story of two brothers and a picture. I wanted to try something unique with this project and do it as a long take from start to finish. It was a very educational exercise in blocking and pacing.
